New Senior Appointments at the PMCPA

Tannyth Cox, currently Senior Manager, PMCPA is promoted to Deputy Director, PMCPA effective 1 January 2023.

Rachael Orme-Smith – currently Senior Director, Ethics and Compliance UK & Ireland, Astellas Pharma Ltd, will join the PMCPA as Deputy Director in March 2023.

The PMCPA administers the ABPI Code of Practice for the pharmaceutical industry which includes detailed provisions to ensure that companies operate in a responsible, ethical and professional manner to support high quality patient care.  These new appointments will contribute to improving understanding of ethical behaviours within the pharmaceutical industry and the culture of compliance.  In addition, they will contribute to the evolution of the requirements of the ABPI Code as well as the PMPCA’s independent operation to ensure high standards and thus meet society’s expectations. 

Tannyth Cox – Promoted to Deputy Director, PMCPA

Tannyth joined the PMCPA as Deputy Secretary in 2013 and was promoted to Secretary in 2018 and to Senior Manager in January 2022.  In her role, Tannyth plays an important role in the assessment of complaints, developing guidance for industry and conducting company audits.  Prior to joining the PMCPA, Tannyth registered as a pharmacist in South Africa before coming to the UK in 2007 to work where she held roles in Medical Affairs at Actelion Pharmaceuticals Ltd and Teva Pharmaceuticals Ltd. 

Rachael Orme-Smith – currently Senior Director Ethics and Compliance UK & Ireland, Astellas Pharma Ltd, appointed Deputy Director PMCPA

Having worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry for over 20 years, Rachael has extensive experience in various roles from Sales and Marketing to New Business Development and Acquisitions.  Mostly recent at Astellas Pharma Ltd, Rachael has spent the last 4.5 years leading Ethics and Compliance transformation in the UK and Ireland affiliate.  Prior to joining the Pharmaceutical Industry, Rachael spent time in the Women’s Royal Naval Service, the Home Office and the NHS.  Rachael will join the PMCPA in March 2023.
