 Welcome to the Interactive ABPI Code of Practice for the Pharmaceutical Industry 2016

​​​​Follow the links to navigate the interactive Code and use this easier format to familiarise yourself with it.

Each clause can be accessed using the contents list on the left hand side of this page. The contents list also appears on every page of the interactive Code.

On each Clause page there is a quick link list at the top of the page to help with navigation.

On the right hand side of each Clause page there are links to relevant advice and to suggest example cases which help demonstrate the implementation of the Clause you can  click on 'suggest a case'.

During the period 1 January to 30 April 2016 no material or activity will be regarded as being in breach of the Code if it fails to comply with its provisions only because of requirements which the 2016 Code introduces.

The Prescription Medicines Code of Practice Authority


The Prescription Medicines Code of Practice Authority (PMCPA) was established by the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) in 1993 to operate the Code of Practice for the Pharmaceutical Industry independently of the Association itself.

Complaints made under the Code are considered by the Code of Practice Panel and, where required, by the Code of Practice Appeal Board. Reports on cases are published by the Authority and are available on request and on the Authority’s website www.pmcpa.org.uk.
